2023 Cadillac Lyriq vs 2025 Cadillac Celestiq: Comparison Test!

2023 Cadillac Lyriq vs 2025 Cadillac Celestiq Comparison.

Cadillac’s first entrant into the luxury electric vehicle market will be the Lyriq SUV, which offers sharp styling and a modern cabin. Cadillac says that both single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive models will be offered, and that its new SUV will have a driving range of more than 300 miles. The Lyriq has been designed from the ground up and will ride on General Motors’ new scalable battery architecture; the company claims a low center of gravity and a spacious cabin as benefits of the dedicated EV-architecture. The Lyriq should be on sale sometime in early 2022 as a 2023 model.

What’s New for 2023?
Not only is Lyriq a brand-new nameplate for the American luxury brand, it’s also Cadillac’s first all-electric offering. When it goes on sale, it’ll go head to head with heavy hitters such as the Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, and Tesla Model X.

It’s just a show car for now, but the Cadillac Celestiq has all the hallmarks of a true flagship luxury sedan—and on top of that, it boasts an all-wheel-drive electric powertrain with at least a 300-mile driving range. Shown at the 2021 CES trade show, the Celestiq is the sister car to the upcoming Lyriq SUV, but it promises even more groundbreaking technologies, including transparent glass roof panels. The cabin looks to be extra-spacious, and a huge infotainment display runs entirely the width of the dashboard. Cadillac says the Celestiq should launch by 2025 and is likely to be the launching point for General Motors’s latest and greatest tech.

What’s New for 2025?

The Celestiq is heading for production as an all-new model for the Cadillac lineup, but we won’t start seeing showstoppers like this for a few more years.

We haven’t seen the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq yet, but a report from The Wall Street Journal says that while the flagship Ultium-powered electric sedan will be more than just a show car, it will have about equal amounts of vapor and vehicle. Based on people familiar with the matter, the paper reports fewer than 500 built each year and a price starting at around $300,000.

Production is apparently on track to begin in late 2023, featuring a massive pillar-to-pillar touchscreen that will outdo the 33-inch one seen in Cadillac’s Lyriq based on both its size and pixel density. Otherwise, we know the Celestiq is bringing all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, and a full-glass roof that allows each passenger to set their own level of transparency. Teasers have shown off the wheels, lights, and door hinges, but we’ll have to wait to see the whole thing.

The halo car is also going to introduce the next generation of GM’s driver-assist technology, with Ultra Cruise “hands-free” tech that the company says will be able to work in 95 percent of driving scenarios and on over 2 million miles of paved roads in the US. In an interview earlier this year.
